what's the embeded assemble instruction to get floating point exponent on x64 and mips linux platform and how to use it
recently i read a book called CSBU(Computer Science from the Bottom Up), and there is one assemble instruction used to directly get the floating point exponent, related code snippet: long double d = 0x8000UL; long exp; // Itanium "get floating point exponent" instruction on Itanium platform asm ("getf.exp %0=%1" : "=r"(exp) : "f"(d)); So, anyone who can tell me which exactly instruction takes the same effect on x64 and mips platform and how to use it. many thanks!
